The poem you wrote for my Aunt was beautiful. I framed a copy and gave it to my Mum as a gift, which she loves. Thank you Hilary x

Every family I am introduced to have their own stories about the deceased to share. I like being able to capture these stories and create something totally unique for the funeral ceremony. From poetry to historical research readings there is often a little bit of humour involved as often this is a true representation of the deceased’s character. It’s like a photographer will capture a moment in a picture, I aim to capture a person with words. Both have the same goal of leaving an imprint on the people present.

When someone dies, it is always going to be painful which is why I try and dilute some of that pain and focus on celebrating the life of a loved one, warts and all. Humans are a fascinating species and when someone has led a colourful or interesting life it’s my pleasure to be the storyteller for their final outing.

I work as a Funeral Celebrant with Funeral Directors in Kent but also directly with families upon recommendation. The time leading up to the actual funeral is all about making sure we get it right for the deaceased. From the music, to the eurlogy to the readings that perhaps will be given by family members. People often don’t realise that there is a certain amount of freedom in creating and crafing a ceremony with a Celebrant and that you are able to work with any person of your choosing. In fact, you could even organise and present the ceremony if that appeals to you.

If you would like to have an informal chat about stuff on this site, please do get in touch. If I can’t help, there is a good chance I will be able to point you in the right direction.

Take care

Hilary
