“A Man Can”

By Hilary Steel

A man can leave an impression, one that lasts forever,

Wonderful memories of those wonderful times together.

These can never be taken; they are yours to keep

In every waking moment and when you fall asleep.

A man can leave a lesson, written in the sand,

In moments of sadness, feel him take your hand.

You walked with him in life, you will in memory too,

Knowing that he loved and cared deeply for you.

A man can make you smile, even from the sky,

Embracing you in your sadness, willing you not to cry

His strength is always with you, never fading pride

Whenever you feel lonely, he’ll be walking by your side.

Harry is such a man, wore his heart upon his sleeve,

And although the pain is real, the time is now to grieve,

And on those days, when nothing makes sense,

Remember grief and love are entwined, powerful and intense.

Just as he was in life, so shall he now remain

A man who pops into your mind, time and time again.

Leave here today, with memories in your heart

Think of him often and you’ll never be apart.
